At the Proceedings of the 12th Asia Pacific Physics Conference (APPC12) JPS Conference Proceedings, the participants discussed that with a “view to representing three-dimensional microscopic structures of materials, Origami-models, called “Science Origami”, were constructed of polyhedral skeletons, which represent atomic positions and coordination polyhedra at the same time.”
Science Origami is considered an effective and interesting method to teach science. It is used to better understand crystals, molecules, and isomers.
- Learning basic geometry concepts through paper folding
- Japanese teachers spend considerable time using origami as a teaching tool
- Future Japanese Doctors Make Micro-Origami As A Recruitment Test
- Flinn The VSEPR Origami Chemical Bonding Activity Kit
- Flinn Scientific “The VSEPR Origami Chemical Bonding Activity Kit is a unique kit, combining the fun of using paper-making origami techniques with the rigors of molecular structure. Students will become engaged while building these interesting models!”
An emphasis on community is also important when attempting to borrow successful educational practices from other countries
